Pump it up for Purim!

YES! I have found my purpose on this planet! to psyche everyone up for Purim. Party on! its about the survival of a potential genocide, we won, so lets eat. Its actually a very holy holiday, although we're running around in clown wigs and getting drunk-or here in Berkeley eating some brownies with some herb in them. I'm dressing as a stockbroker selling shares in Olam HaBa (the world to come) going fast...

what does alona do all day?

one of my favorite books as a kid was Richard Scarry's book, What Do People do all day?
so, being in a lovely house with a 9 month girl, how do I spend my time? well, when she's sleeping, a lot of it is spent in front of a screen chatting, sending blessings, giving unsolicited advice. want some?
the schedule goes eat-sleep-change diaper play-walk, eat... you get it. there's a park nearby. I need to go take a nap. I get off work between 5 and 6 and then I'm really in the mood to create some trouble. on tues I go to the farmers market. I'm not shopping for food, I'm hungry to connect. there's great things, like raw food creations. I was about throw a temper tantrum if one of the farms that I've been buying Bok Choi from was out.
I'd be happy to share my recipies.

enlightenment through housecleaning

the house I work in got cleaned today by a Brasilian couple I'm happy to be outta the business. There's something very satisfying in housecleaning. easier when its not your own clutter, and a little romantic in another country and you don't know what chemicals are in the stuff you're cleaning with. people want their houses to smell clean.
I like to clean with baking soda and vinegar. it makes a fun sound-fizz. great for toilet bowls, stainless steel sinks, burnt pots, caked food.
next time I'll share my floor cleaning methods.
remember, cleanliness is next to Godliness!

welcome to the adventures of Alona

Hello everyone-all of my adoring fans, no please stop the paparazzi, I'm really a private person...if anyone wants to join my campaign to be silly, please join. no membership fees, just a sense of humor and willingness to be out there. its the month of Adar in the Hebrew calendar, so it says that joy increases when Adar enters.

thanks to my brother's encouragement, I'm finally starting this, this blog can be about my nanny adventures but my life is not so juicy spending all day with a very cute 9 month girl, working near the Gourmet Ghetto. I will keep you posted on what happens between changing pee and poopy diapers. yes, this position does have its perks!
