summer lovin

Its hot. Watermelon weather. I like eating watermelon with feta cheese, the combination of sweet and juicy with salty. Today I met a friend in the park who brought a watermelon to enjoy. No knife to open, but dropped it with intention. Had spoons and I had chopsticks.

My dad is on a diet for his heart and to lose weight. He is following a diet by Dr. Essyln who prescribes a vegan diet. I find it a bit extreme not to have oil or avocados! I made a dinner that was almost in line, except for the guacamole. A dinner of brown rice, salsa of cilantro, tomato, red onion, lime and garlic, sweet white corn-I think my first of the season, cut from the cob with lime and cumin. Ate it in a low carb tortilla-they have a funny taste. I would add black beans.

The woman I cook for was craving chocolate, so I melted bittersweet chocolate and added ground almonds and oats to make a chocolate bar.

Going the mikva

To toivel (immerse) some glasses that I bought and my new aluminum water bottle. The mikva is a holy place. In Berkeley, it is behind a house that a Chabad couple lives in, the husband runs the Vaad HaKasrus for N. California. A mikva is a little bit like a hot tub, there was a cover over the water. I didn't remove the whole cover. I put my items in a basket. said the blessing blessed are you... who immerses vessels. Its not about making them kosher, if I understand, its taking ownership of my vessels. I feel like I did a purifying mitzvah for the day.

seeing what is

The new month of Tammuz is today. The energy of healing for this month is

Seeing

sight
we are fixing our sight
seeing beyond illusion
beyond the prism of what distorts

seeing clearly
for what things truly are
beyond the veil of illusion

Torah illuminates the eyes
we can see clearly
Torah is transformation

I see what is in the way
I see where I want to go
I ask for support
with the obstacles

COmmitMEnt is a challenge
I say its the fog, living on a fault line
critical of community
chevre, can we show up?

it is inner,
the courage to
confront the challenges

tears fall when I do not see myself for who
I
truly am,
when I see only my limitations
tears come to my eyes when
I am seen
by another who
I truly am
my grace
my power
my light
I want to shine strong like a laser
and not get scattered like a flashlight

I am powerful
I am strong
I am radiant

I know I am half of a whole
growing towards shleimut.
in myself, to be open to see
my dynamic partner in creation

who see me
for who I truly am and what
I am capable of becoming
